California Dreamin’

I really love that song, California Dreamin’ by The Mamas and The Papas. Unfortunately, thanks to the movie, “The Hills Have Eyes,” which used this song to somehow illustrate the inevitable fate of hopelessness and suffering, it really creeps me out now when I listen to it. Prior to this movie, when I heard the song, it would make me think of those teen fiction books in which the plot involves a sweet summer fling. Now when I hear it, I think about sick, disgusting, demented, deformed men dragging someone to their dark, forsaken houses and setting her/him ablaze after thoroughly torturing the victim (sorry if I ruined the movie for those of you who haven’t seen it, but there really was nothing to it). However, I still love this song. Only thing is, I can’t listen to it when I’m alone at night in my room or car. In fact, I just posted California Dreamin’ up on my music page, and was tempted to listen, so I did but I got freaked out, so I guess I’ll have to wait until the morning :) . Anyway, I’m flying high right now because I’m gonna meet up with this musician I just met and make some music. He also wants to cover June Carter and Johnny Cash’s, Jackson….I think thats the one. Anyway, so that should be cool. So, in conclusion, I guess there are two lessons to be learned from The Mamas and The Papas and their beautiful song, California Dreamin’: First off, don’t eat like a pig or you will die choking on a sandwich…and secondly, its not nice to kill beautiful people just because it looks like someone ran over your face with a lawn mower.
