3 Stars in a 5 Star Masterpiece
August 11, 2007 on 12:50 pm | In Everything | 6 CommentsTonight, I…LoL..”Tonight is your night bro..” LoL, sorry, when I thought the word “tonight”, it reminded me of that movie “Twins”, when Arnold Schwarzenegger is going on a date, and Danny DeVito sings,”Tonight is your night bro!” LoL, I am laughing so hard right now. Well, if anyone knows what I am talking about, Shareen does, LOL!! Anyway…like I was saying, tonight, I saw something so beautiful. I saw three consecutive shooting stars, right here in Moreno Valley (the city where nothing happens). Now, I know some people are thinking,”Wow, who cares…”, however, this was so magnificent to me. The first shooting star, I only caught at a glimpse; I saw it from the corner of my eye and wasn’t even sure that it was a shooting star. I hoped that I had actually seen one, so I stared into the sky hoping for it to happen again…and then, it did! This second one was even more beautiful, and I knew it was a shooting star, and not just my eyes deceiving me. Then, the third one came and it was just as beautiful. It made me think of how shooting stars parallel so many ideas, metaphorically. For example, I compare shooting stars to God. It is difficult to fathom something so beautiful and magnificent, that when you actually catch a glimpse of it’s existence (for instance, when you feel as though God has done something in your life, or certain that you have felt him), you almost don’t believe it; you think your eyes/mind is deceiving you, but you are more attentive now, waiting to see/feel it come again, hoping to catch it, to see if what you saw/felt was actually what you thought you were seeing/feeling. So, then you see/feel it again, and you are sure now of it’s existence, but it still blows your mind because of how amazing it is!
I think it is just incredible how God has given us a mind that is able to possess the acknowledgment of beauty and art. I mean, if he wanted to, he could have made the sky a blank face without expression, or he could have made melody and song just a dry sound. It is so great that we have the ability to understand beauty, and to create it. We could have been created only to have the ability to look at a flower or the sky or people, or a tree and just see that, just see nouns, but instead, we can see more. We can identify emotion in the colors, the life, and the withering of flowers and we can apply those emotions, and see the manifestation of those emotions in people! Like Crista from the movie, “Fern Gully”, explains (
), we can feel a tree’s pain! Geez, and the sky! Well, the sky just seems to represent the facets of God. We have dawn, we have night, we have twilight, we have a downcast sky, a sunny sky… life comes from the sky. The sky is multi-faceted, but ultimately it is the sky, it is one thing, and it is always beautiful. That is the same way I look at God. All these facets represent different emotions and feelings that God has, but ultimately, God is God, he is life and he is beautiful.
When a painter paints a picture, s/he illustrates more than just an image. S/he illustrates a point or an idea or a revelation that the viewer is expected to discover. You can’t just look at something and expect to know what it means, you have to “look harder” (As quoted by Rafiki in “The Lion King”. Geez…what’s with all the movie quotes, lol?) The great thing is, all we need is our eyes, our hearts and our minds. The answers lie in the picture. I apply this same idea to life, and the world we live in.
